Chairman Message

The teaching profession has held a highly-esteemed status in our culture as poems were composed to praise the teacher and his role in the society. It is the same in Kuwait, where the teacher and education in general receive no less great regard and honor in relation with other professions.

Accordingly, when the CTLR was founded, several trajectories were endorsed, one of which was Professional Development for faculty, educators and all students.

Therefore, we in CTLR hold our programs to be a primary constituent of the educational process, and a transporter of knowledge to the student. For that reason, we seek through our center to upgrade the quality of education in Kuwait, by programs and projects which aim at enriching the field of education, providing it with best practices, and elevating educators’ performance. This is to reach the overall objective of improving the educational process and its output.

In order to achieve what we believe in, the center is currently managing several projects and studies in collaboration with different institutions such as The Ministry of Education, which intend to identify the aspects of strength and weakness in general, develop protocols and guidelines to develop better performance in the field, and consequently insure teachers’ efficiency in Kuwait.

Professional Development

The mission of The Center of Teaching, Learning, and Research (CTLR) is steeped in educational philosophy and pedagogy that also incorporates technology and practical instruction. It is dedicated to assist educators in their professional development, provide teachers and students with new educational methodologies, techniques and technologies, and serve as a research hub for educators, teachers and students. Therefore, CTLR and Kuwait Foundation of Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) has established a working relationship to develop and serve the community with innovative educational projects related to science, math, and STEM education. During summer and fall of 2018, CTLR has worked hard to achieve the following objectives:

  • Facilitate the training of teachers in new instructional methods in math, English, science, and Arabic,
  • Provide students with opportunities to participants in math and science activities
  • Identified experts in the field of STEM and innovative educational initiative and bring them to Kuwait for seminars and workshops
  • Cooperate together with the Ministry of Education (MoE) in organizing teacher training workshops and different activities

The activities have focused in achieving the objectives (1- 4) though establishing a relationship with the MoE. The activities were varied in areas of science, math, STEM for both private and public school community (Supervisors, teachers, and students). The training sessions covered all segments (elementary, middle, and high) school teachers from both public and private. It also covered supervisors as technical leaders. A combination of local and regional training agencies and expert individuals were provided to conduct the activities. The tables in the following pages provides an overview of all the activities during summer and fall of 2018.

CTLR though the support of KFAS and the collaboration with MoE will continue aiding the community with the best innovative ideas to support Kuwait’s new vision related to education
